Dr. Michael van der Griend

Dr. van der Griend undertook his Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery at UNSW (the University of NSW, Sydney), Australia. 

He completed his post graduate specialist training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney and at Salisbury Hospital, United Kingdom, during which time he was awarded the prestigious Organon Prize for Excellence in Specialty Examination.

After returning to Sydney, he commenced his practice at Royal North Shore Hospital and the Mater Hospital as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in 1995 and additionally at North Shore Private Hospital from 1998. 

Dr. van der Griend is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a Fellow of the UK Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He is also a Medical Adviser to MIGA, a leading Australian medical indemnity company. 

His special interests include menopause management, infertility management, abnormal cervical screening testing (CST), menstrual disorders, high-risk pregnancies and obstetric care.

Passionate about education, Dr. van der Griend mentors and trains medical and midwifery students. He also lectures to community-based GPs to update them on current best practice antenatal testing.

Now a father to four grown children and a grandfather to two, Dr. van der Griend feels great joy in assisting couples realise their dreams of becoming a family. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling, keeping fit and spending time with his wife and growing family.
